A retired newspaper photographer was killed by a police constable when he was driving a red light. He admitted that he was the reason of death of a nobleman because of his careless driving.

Trevor Bartlett Who was a former newspaper photographer, died at the age of 80 after being struck by a van while crossing on 19 December 2023. The place of this incident is the A52 road in Beeston, Nottinghamshire.

Steven Allcock, a 33-year-old police constable at Nottinghamshire, had the charge of hitting a man who was crossing the road. Moreover, this investigation was conducted by the IOPC, the independent officer of the police conduct.

When the accused appeared in front of the magistrate of the court, he presented himself as a guilty person for the incident.

Allcock was a young police van driver standing in the dark in proper uniform, wearing a Navy suit and blue type at the complete access of exceeding the speed limit and could drive through a red light in multiple circumstances.

According to his prosecutor, Elizabeth Ried, when he approaches the red light, he should stop or give the other person a way to move. If he found a person in front of him, then he should stop and give proper space to the people so that they can cross the road.

 It was true that the officer had access to drive and cross the red light; however, he was driving at an inappropriate speed, which was the reason for this incident.

 According to the previous sayings of IOPC, the police van had a detainee behind it, and they were getting late to take him to the custody facility. The van was travelling in a bus lane with sirens and blue lights on.

 Jonathan Taaffe, the District Judge Fast his statement in favor of the police officer and stated that he was going to do something good for the public and a good character person.

 He added that he was very unfortunate and sorry to the Mr Bartlett family, who had lost their loved one not because of his own fault.

However, the judge sentenced Allcock until 12 February and also provided him with unconditional bail. Moreover, the police man was temporarily banned from driving.

By taking the guilty Appeal of alcohol, PC director Emily Berry said that this driver must have reason believe that the potential of harming to the members of the public when going through the red traffic light and changed his style of driving.

 According to the action of the officer, no one can say he is a rule breaker; however, the loss of the victim's family cannot be compensated. The judge and other members of the state found themselves guilty and provided their complete sympathies to the Bartlett family.
