Regina King on Life After Son Ian’s Tragic Death

Regina King, an American director and actress, recently opened up in an interview about the life that was drastically changed after the death of her son Ian Alexander Jr.

Regina gave an interview for her cover story to Haute Living Los Angeles that was published on 21 August. In an interview, she talks about her son who died at the age of 26, on 21 January 2022, by suicide.

Regina expressed her thoughts that she can understand now that happiness and sadness can occur at the same time. The actress added that she lives in the moment one thousand percent, and she did not know if that is something that comes with time, pain, or pandemic, and probably it is done because of all of it, and she feels that.

Ian was the only son of an actress with her ex-husband Ian Alexander Sr, and at the time of tragedy, Regina stated that their family is devastated at the deepest level of loss of their son Ian. He is a bright light in their life who cares so deeply about the happiness of others.

Regina said that she launched the MianU, the orange wine, to pay homage to Ian, and it plays an important role in keeping him alive in her heart. She said that the creativity and art of Ian are all there. She says that it was all like an epiphany, and she came from that place of continuing to make memories in Ian’s spirit.

Regina, in a devastated manner, remarked that she was surrounded by people who talked about their children’s weddings, engagements, and the beginning of the new chapter. Regina included that she still loves to talk about Ian, but she does not have the chance to make memories with him in a way all mothers do. But she is focused on that, and it is her way of creating something new together.

The actress thinks of her son Ian every time she pours a glass of wine. She states that she thinks of him 24/7, and always in this moment, she can see his face. She added that for the people who never get the chance to dance with Ian, maybe they will be curious, and maybe they will ask his name right here in the middle of it all. Ian will never be forgotten. If they see me, they will see Ian.
