The American musician Malcom Jamal Warner shared a touching message before his death in his final podcast.
On 18 July, Friday, just days before his tragic death, the musician released the final episode of his podcast ‘’Not All Hood”. The musician untimely passed away because of drowning during a family vacation in Costa Rica at the age of 54.
The musician opens up about a recent talk with Harper that changes his perspective about how he views the title of the podcast, while chatting with co-host Candace Kelly and guest Tameka “Georgia Me’’ Harper.
He stated that when Harper and he were talking behind the camera, and he mentioned his podcast name, Harper responded with nothing is wrong with the hood.
At the moment, he reflects and realises that there could be a misconception when they are saying “not all hood” as a hood is bad, the concept that the media shows that it is one side of the Black culture, and that was the hood side.
The musician explains that the hood side is the one that has always created the culture of America, as things get co-opted from the hood, and then these become mainstream.
Warner explained that his idea about Black excellence changed when he had a discussion with a Black soldier. The survival of Black people in of itself is a Black excellence, he also added that the most patriotic people walking on this earth are the Black Soldiers.
