The Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard disclosed the reason behind his hiatus from acting back when he was 13, when he appeared on Dax Shepard’s Armchair.
Things were different when he starred in a Hunden som log (The Dog that Smiled), which is a Swedish film of 1989, and again, the major popularity was achieved by the 48-year-old actor.
He continued that a movie was almost a 50-minute-long long and in the 1980s, Sweden had only two channels, and if something was on TV, then the whole country had to watch it. He was 13 years old, and because of that one little thing, he got recognised in the whole country.
He further added that he became a star.
Alexander explains that at such a young age, fame became overwhelming for him, and he doesn’t like being recognised. He did not like to go to school, because the kids at school told him that they had watched a movie.
The actor added that fame affected his relationships because when he was 13 or 14, if a girl showed interest in him, he thought that a girl liked him because she was a fan of the movie. These things crushed him, and he felt terrible thinking that he only did a 50-minute movie, and he didn’t want this to be going on.
He retired and gave up at the age of 13.
Alexander started working again and made his Hollywood debut in the movie Zoolander in 2001.
