Toji is the man the Zenin clan threw away. Born without cursed energy into a family that measured human worth by it, he walked out and built a career as an assassin who killed sorcerers for money. The nickname Sorcerer Killer was not marketing. He earned it contract by contract, using a body that had developed past normal human limits and a tactical brain that never wasted a movement.
Then there is who he was to the story. He is Megumi's father, even though Megumi spends most of the series not knowing it. That detail turns Toji from a very good antagonist into a tragedy.
