An American actress and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, an Australian-American actress, moved to England in November 2024.
During a recent interview with journalist Richard Bacon in the UK, Ellen gave an update about how her life has been. Firstly, the couple quickly adapted to the lifestyle of the UK, and at some point, they started riding their lawn mowers regularly because they wanted to keep the grass down for horses.
The constant maintenance of the lawn frustrates Ellen, and she recalled that she told Portia that they can’t keep up with this, and Portia gave the idea that they can buy a sheep, but that results in a chain reaction of errors for them.
Ellen stated that they got four sheep to put in their pastures with horses, and the next morning, all the sheep were out, and they just climbed out of that. Then, they decided to buy an electric fence.
They thought the problem would end with that, but it had just started. After that, they were in for almost a week, but then one sheep got out, and then they all got out. And they were like, they have to build an actual fence, so they built it, and it was so ugly and ruined everything, so they paid to take the fence down.
Ellen continued that she spent so much money on sheep that she can’t even tell how much these costs, and that was Portia’s idea. The comedian also shared that she had to clean up after the sheep because they use the restroom everywhere on the field, and their dog got into it.
The comedian then turned towards the comedic relief by sarcastically asking herself Is this why you came? And she answered it by saying yes, and the audience broke into laughter.
The couple were exploring different areas of England, and Ellen admitted that she could not speak it, but she loved it. She jokingly encountered the audience by asking them This is Cheltenham, and she doesn’t go to Cheltenham. She asked the audience why they were in a hurry with their names, it should be “By-sister’’ but it`s “Bicester’’.
The comedian humorously added that the people who came up with the names of towns thought that they didn’t have time for that.
The former actress transparently states about the problems they face back home, and are still affecting the couple, halfway across the world. She candidly asked that the Baptist church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage, and they are trying to very least stop it from occurring in future, and wants to possibly reverse it.
If the marriage of Ellen and Portia were affected by the American administration, then the couple already has a plan. Ellen revealed that Portia and she are already looking into this matter, and they are deciding to get married in Cheltenham. She jokingly added have cheese on us, and everybody’s invited.
